Guatemalan coffees are among the most prized in the world for espresso preparation.
1. Coffee Selection and Roast Level
Guatemalan coffees, especially those from regions like Huehuetenango and Antigua, have a rich flavor with subtle fruity and chocolate notes.
2. Fresh Grinding
For espresso, use 18-20 grams of coffee per dose and grind just before brewing.
3. Temperature and Pressure
Quality espresso requires stable water temperature of 92-96°C and 9 bars of pressure.
4. Tamping
Press with about 15-20 kg of force for even compaction. Extraction should take 25-30 seconds.
5. Serving
Serve in a pre-warmed cup to maintain aroma and temperature.
